Well, when it comes to talking about something I love, there's nothing I love more than golf. Well I do love my wife and boys more than golf, but a blog about my love for them might not be that interesting. There are plenty of other things I like to do - bowl, ski, go to sporting events, travel, watch reality TV (the good stuff like Survivor, not Jersey Shore - agh!) - but none make me crazier than golfing. And its a good crazy. So a golf blog it is!
I don't think I'm 100% sure of the direction I'd like to take in here. Mostly discussing courses I've played - I play at a lot of different courses in New Jersey and sometimes out of state. So its fun to talk about how the course was, how I played, is it worth a return trip. In addition I figured you can read some of my inner golf battles with trying to be a better player. I am currently a 12.4 (and fluctuate lately between 11 and 13) index and strive to be at least single digit - but as I've now hit 50 years old its not getting easier!
I currently play golf with two clubs. One is the Golf Club of New Jersey. It is a traveling club and is a lot of fun. If you are in New Jersey and really enjoy playing and want some competition, I recommend it. The other is a smaller local gang I play with near home at Passaic County Golf Course on Sunday mornings - whoops, I mean Preakness Valley Golf Course (they renamed it this year). It is called the Elm Tree Golf Club and they are a great bunch of guys! In addition I'll play on my own, with a friend or with my son any other chance I get. Or while on vacation or on a cruise in the islands. And I go down to Myrtle Beach almost every August to golf in the World Amateur Handicap Championship. So as you can see I play a lot and can share a lot of course info with you.
Thanks for reading - I hope if you like the blog you'll follow along and make your own comments and observations. Or maybe I'll even see you out on the course!!
